eKamva generates overwhelming media interest

The shift towards electric vehicles (EVs) emerges as a pivotal consideration for South Africa’s most important public transport sector – minibus taxis. The eKamva is an EV pathway to decarbonising the minibus taxi sector and the media response has been tremendous.

Launched at Smart Mobility Africa summit 2024, the eKamva has triggered enormous public, industry and media interest.

The work of a consortium including GoMetro, Powerfleet (formerly MiX Telematics), HSW, ACDC Dynamics, and entities within Stellenbosch University’s Faculty of Engineering, the eKamva is an EV minibus taxi to improve how most South Africans move.

GoMetro CEO, Justin Coetzee, hosted several industry stakeholders at the EV minibus taxi’s reveal. Coetzee also engaged with many media platforms, explaining the vision of eKamva for the minibus taxi industry.
