The Challenge

Diraro Group currently service contracts nationally and has a fleet of their own vehicles but also rely heavily on a large number of sub-contracted vehicles to fulfill their contract responsibilities. While they enjoy the visibility of their own fleet through Cartrack and  manage their loads to ensure operational efficiency, the same cannot be done with the sub-contracted loads. 

GoMetro was able to provide them with hardware and software to improve visibility, efficiency and customer satisfaction.

The current visibility and transparency of subcontracted vehicles is non-existent creating disruption within their operations and negatively affecting communication throughout resulting in unpleasant interactions with clients , financial loss and predominantly delay times.  

To add to the above Diraro Group are also facing difficulties in monitoring the location and use of their rental trailers.

Vehicles and operations

Diraro’s fleet comprises of 120 vehicle combinations, including lightweight trailers and PBS Side Tippers These configurations allow legal payloads of up to 40 and 48 tonnes, respectively, enhancing efficiency and road safety while reducing transit time. As the top ‘mine to port’ logistics solutions provider in the mining industry, they partner with over 400 sub-contractors, enabling them to handle substantial volumes, exceeding 500,000mt monthly. They cover extensive routes in Southern Africa and beyond, efficiently transporting cargo across borders. Their warehousing facilities in Port Elizabeth and Durban ensure secure and efficient cargo handling, and they maintain a strict anti-fraud and anti-corruption policy, complying with al relevant laws.

Software

The current Telematic Asset Tracking system used by Diraro supply chain for monitoring sub- contracted vehicles lacks the capability to integrate with multiple tracking providers. GoMetro’s Bridge software enables Diraro’s fleet team to have visibility on al their sub-contractor vehicles at al times, irregardless of tracking provider.
